Yeah, I'm getting the exact same issues with you. Gf and me are playing with the same wifi in same room. Co-op only worked one day and didn't work after. It's fine if we quick join randoms and invite each other to that session but if we were to invite each other the loading screen just go on forever and we can't join each other lol.
I guess we have to upgrade to the def edition to play together. the old version is still findable via traders and some offical stores. though as more time passes it becomes tougher and tougher to find.
